Questioning what one has to offer, in the end you are who you are

Delivered initially in a comedic style. I get so much shit in the mail from AOL, offering me 1000 free hours of internet access. I mean, I already have internet access, doesn’t everybody? It’s platinum now, diamond, are they going to come up with a new element one of these days, so shiny and rare that it convinces me that 1000 free hours are free even though they need to get my credit card? The offers do keep getting better and better though. At some point they’ll break me down, I’m sure. And I’ll get AOL, ya know, 3am infomercial, I’ll crumble like a dry cookie. So, you got to ask yourself what would it take for you to switch to AOL? I think I’d do it for a Happy Ending from the CEO. (Laughter Pause) I’m just messing around. Actually…I’ve been a mess. (Pause) I wanted to be rich, get respect fro myself. (Relationships haven’t worked for me too well, as you know.) So off I went to get some of mine, you know. But you know what I’ve found out, trying to make money for a decade or so? Let me put it this way. Have you ever thought about if you, like your abilities, your skill set, your personality, your level of do-it-your-self-ed-ness were the norm across the entire history of humankind. In other words, if you were everyone, man and woman, and they all had your skills and ability to make progress. Have you thought about where the world would be today if that were the scenario? The truth is, if it were me, I don’t think we would have much of anything. I mean, for example, we wouldn’t have buildings, we wouldn’t have computers, we might not even have fire. We would have some good laughs if we were alive at all...maybe. I mean, it’s a little sad when you think about it, when you really confront it, but it has made me look for that one thing I bring to the table, if you are lucky enough to bring one thing to the table. Then I can really try to focus on that in order to give back a little bit to all of these people who are doing all of these things to make our world livable. It’s unbelievable when you think about it. There’s doctors out there curing diseases. There’s scientists out there making new drugs there are, there are, well there must be a lot of people doing a lot of shit. I mean, engineers putting up buildings, there’s computer whizzes putting up porn on the internet, accessible to everyone…for free. it’s really quite striking when I think about the amount that I’ve contributed to all of this. I feel like hugging a nerd.

What would the world be like if the average person had an IQ of 200 rather than 100? Mentally challenged people would have 160 IQ's, they’d be like Bill Clinton. Einstein would be below average.†I'd virtually be an automoton. How would they treat me?† I’d be like, “I’m not a moron,” and they’d be like, “look at the moron telling us she’s not a moron. Isn’t that cute” That would be so frikin weird. I can't even imagine it really.(Pause) Would we still have war?† It’s such a bizarre question. Wait, oh yeah, I had a point… … I guess what I’m saying is, you are what you are. I am what I am. I can only change so much. But it’s a good thing. I decided. I am what I am so I can stop beating myself up for not being rich enough or nice enough or just good enough.
